Cabin Climate Management
Managing the cabin climate in an electric vehicle is more complex than in a conventional internal combustion vehicle. Cooling relies on a compressor running from the same battery as the motor. The heater has no engine cooling system as a thermal source. To address those challenges, sophisticated and smart controls are required to minimize their power consumptions and to optimize cabin thermal comfort. In addition to the cabin cooling/heating loads, the high voltage battery also needs to be conditioned. Finally, the absence of an internal combustion engine often presents some challenges to minimize NVH.
Coolant Loop
Managing the coolant loop in EVs is critical to maintain all components at peak performance and provide cabin thermal comfort. Sophisticated and smart controls are necessary to minimize any waste energy.
